Think Engagement, Not Donations on Facebook

Since its conception, Facebook has been a way to bring people together and socialize. It’s built into the DNA of the website: We “friend,” not “add” new connections on the network. Even the verbiage is all about relationships.

So it makes sense that on the Facebook ladder of engagement, the first rung is simple engagement. Establish a relationship, get “liked,” give a reason for people to listen in. After that, you’re ready to climb to the next rung on the ladder.
