When looking for potential hires, it’s easy for nonprofit recruiters to dismiss those candidates who have exclusively for-profit business experience. But don’t be so hasty: for-profit people are people too, and can often add lasting value to your venture.

Evaluating a candidate should involve more than simply perusing their personal job history. Will her “bottom-line” experience help increase revenue and cut excess, advancing your nonprofit’s mission? Does his personal history underline his future commitment to your cause?
