“Fear of loss often weighs heavier than hope of gain.”
When people feel like they don’t have the capabilities to make an impact because the problem is too looming, they often don’t give anything at all because they fear the feeling of loss.
When soliciting money from your donors, focus on what people will gain from their donation. Encourage them that even a small donation will do good. Yes, their money may not save thousands of lives right away, but it will certainly make a dent in the problem. If great numbers are encouraged, it’s no longer considered a dent.
