Nonprofit Leadership–Thinking Outside of the Box

July 6th, 2012

Leaders come in all sorts of types. There’s the soft-spoken leader, the go-getter and the charismatic leader. But too often, we fall into a routine of what we think a leader should be instead of doing what is best for our organization.

We’ve all been tricked by our minds. For example, what color is a yield sign? If you thought yellow, you thought wrong. Yield signs are red but since we associate yellow with caution, many people don’t realize that the signs are actually red. As a leader, let go of what your mind tells you is right and step outside that box. You’ll be innovative and more creative than ever before.
